Credits pay for the work a scan does: the engine queries it runs, the pages it fetches and the schema it generates. Cached responses don't consume credits. On a paid plan your allowance is added at the start of each billing period, and unused credits roll over up to three months' worth. The free plan is topped back up to 500 each month instead, so its credits do not stack.

Yes, at any time, from your account page. The new plan starts straight away. The prorated difference - a charge for an upgrade, a credit for a downgrade - goes on your next invoice rather than being taken today, and the new plan's monthly credits arrive with that invoice. During a free trial nothing is prorated: the trial carries on and the first invoice is at the new price.
Click "Manage subscription" from this page or your account page. That opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel anytime. You retain access until the end of the billing period.
