Does schema help AI visibility?

Structured data doesn't buy a citation from ChatGPT or Perplexity by itself - no schema does. What it does is give retrieval systems a clean, unambiguous read of what a page is and what it says, instead of forcing them to guess from prose and layout. That matters for Google's AI Overviews and fan-out queries, for Microsoft Copilot, and for classic rich results, all of which lean on structured data to decide what to surface. Pages with accurate schema are easier to parse correctly and more likely to show up in rich results and AI-generated summaries - a real, if indirect, visibility advantage, not a magic citation lever.
